We knew that sooner or later this moment would come, that some celebrity would carry on his arm a design by Hedi Slimane, the new creative director of Céline.
What we did not expect was that it happened before the Paris Fashion Week, at the end of September, when the designer presented his first collection for the French firm.
While Phoebe Philo, former creative director of Céline, betting on a simple communication and away from the masses, Slimane wanted to give a turn to the firm and bet on a celebrity and not just anybody, nothing more and nothing less than Lady Gaga.
The singer appeared in the Louvre Museum, in Paris, with a black leather raincoat and a bag hanging on her arm that soon recognized. “Leave everything you are doing because Lady Gaga just happened to come out with the first bag of Hedi Slimane for Céline” published fashion journalist Pierre A. M’Pelé.
Shortly after filtering images of Lady Gaga in the Louvre, in front of the Mona Lisa, and with the newest of Céline, she herself revealed it in her Instagram (29.2 million followers), where we could see in more detail the creation of Slimane, in which the initials of the singer are recorded.
Tom Eerebout, the stylist of Lady Gaga, has confirmed it to the Business of Fashion magazine. “He gave her the bag and it’s the first in her collection. It will be presented as part of the first Slimane collection for Céline in September, during the Paris Fashion Week. ”
It is not the first time we see Lady Gaga wearing designs by Hedi Slimane. In fact, in 2012 she was the first to wear a complete designer look for Saint Laurent, just a week after the show; and in 2016 she was the first to wear a mini dress with golden sequins and shoulder pads that belonged to the latest Slimane collection for Saint Laurent.
